Your Skin's Best Mates for Winter

June 27, 2017

Winter is upon us! The days are shorter, the air is frosty and our skin… well for most of us it’s dry and dull. Hooray. Some of you may know that while I live in Sydney, I am a born and bred Canberran and for the last two weeks I have been in my hometown enjoying the luxuries of home. Unfortunately that also means copping the freezing cold, super dry air. Luckily, I have my squad with me and they have been keeping my skin in check! So without further ado, lemme introduce you to my squad..

YOUR BFFL: People for Plants Organic Face Oil $29.95

Last year I was introduced to this organic, Australian made and owned skincare range and this face oil happens to be my favourite. This little bottle is packed with soothing, nourishing and anti-aging ingredients like argan, omegas 3, 6 & 9, pomegranate to stimulate collagen production (YAS to keeping my babyface) and milk thistle to soothe. I pop this on morning and night under my moisturiser.

THE ONE WHO WILL GET YOU THROUGH YOUR HANGOVER: GlamGlow Thirsty Mud $27.00

GlamGlow has been around for a while, their YouthMud exfoliating treatment has long been a cult favourite for buffing away dead skin to bring back the natural glow. But once a week, you pair it with ThirstyMud and the glow you get is preeeeeetty serious. Imagine sloughing off layers of dirt and dead skin then bathing it in a luxurious mask packed with coconut extract, honey, oats and ginger.. yummmmm. This stuff is great for THIRSTY skin. Use overnight once or twice a week.

YOUR EASTERN SUBURBS YOGA QUEEN FRIEND: Sukin Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser $12.95

This generously priced moisturiser is my daytime go-to and worn over the top of my face oil. Sukin is such a blessing to the Australian market being so well-priced for such great quality products. My bathroom is filled with their products and I’m obsessed with this moisturiser. The ingredients sound like a healthy green smoothie! Kale, spirulina, parsley and Chlorella boost the skin’s radiance, acai and goji berry extracts kickstart the anti-aging and rosehip, avocado and jojoba oils pack on the hydration. You don’t need to wear this over a face oil, it does so much in terms of hydration just on its own so assess your skin’s condition and see how you go with and without anything underneath.

YOUR DAY 1 HOMIE: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado $44.00

My longest love. 10 years. A lifetime in hollywood years really.. Kiehl’s cult eye cream is also one of mine and I’ve had this in my bathroom cabinet ever since I first laid eyes on it. Anything with avocado is automatically hydrating, all those good fats.. But what I’ve found is this treatment works on so many different skin types, particularly dry skin. You really only need the tiniest amount to receive the hydrating benefits and even clients of mine who suffer from flakiness around the eyes have become huge fans. Never breaking up with you babe.

YOUR FRIEND WITH BENEFITS: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I’m not a matte girl. I love everything shiny (except my roots..) and super-hydrated so I love nothing more than to drench my lips in a thick balm or sleeping mask before I jump into bed. I recently picked this one up from the Sydney International Airport and boy was it a life saver.  Rich in Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, it latches onto moisture like nothing else and keeps your lips feeling amazing and looking plump with a subtle hint of colour. I keep it in my bag for on the go hydration as well as overnight.
