How I Met My Favourite $4 Makeup Remover..

February 5, 2018

Since getting eyelash extensions, I've had to alter my skincare regimen to include something that removes my makeup without taking off my lashes i.e. nothing oily (buh-bye beloved Eve Lom cleanser, for now).

Insert - VOEU Micellar Water. Micellar Water, or micelles, are basically tiny balls of oil suspended in soft water. Which means, you get all the cleansing goodness with none of the oily residue. It feels like a toner that doesn't dry out your skin and can be used on it's own or as a makeup remover before your normal cleanser.

Rewind to me two weeks ago having blown through my pay on rent and bills (yay - adult life) and in desperate need of a new makeup remover. Scouring through the aisles of Woolworths, I walked past the bottles of brands I have already tried and at the bottom shelf in a corner was a clear bottle that said VOEU Micellar Water, in clean purple text.

I'm a sucker for nice packaging (it looked like a bottle of VOSS water) and when I saw the $4 price tag I thought, 'Why not. If you don't like it, it was only 4 bucks'. So I grabbed a bottle and went home.

I applied it onto a cotton pad, went to town on my waterproof brows (thank you Wunderbrow - love you sah much) and LET. ME. TELL. YOU..

Ohhh I love this stuff!! It has a clean - almost undetectable scent, smooth texture and it takes off my makeup so easily! So, I went back and bought more - as you do.

A little google of the brand (Voeu is French for Wish) brought me back to the Woolworth's website and it turns out its an in-house brand with Jules Sebastian (Makeup Artist, Stylist and wifey to Guy) as it's face and a massive range of products.

While the ingredients are mostly synthetic ($4, remember) with a small percentage of Witch Hazel extract, Hyaluronic Acid (holds 1000x its own weight in water - extremely hydrating :) ) and Benzoic Acid; it works a treat at removing makeup.

I've had zero negative reactions so you could say I'm pretty obsessed.

It's taken off my work makeup, going-out makeup, waterproof makeup refusing to come off my hands.. everything....

So Voeu, you've made my wish come true!
