Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has been in the business of Girl Power for a while. The brand's Global Charity Initiative was launched in 2013 as the Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls to make education and learning accessible to women and girls on a global scale. Bobbi wrote a book of the same name in 2010 (Pretty Powerful) featuring before and after photos of 'real' women - that same year she was appointed to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN).
Safe to say, this is a brand and founder you want to get behind.
Last week I was lucky to have been gifted with the latest addition to the Pretty Powerful family - cult favourite Pot Rouge for Lip & Cheeks repackaged with the Limited Edition 'Pretty Powerful' slogan. This year the brand has partnered with Kiva, a non-profit organisation that secures micro-loans for low-income women in over 80 countries seeking to create a better future for themselves. Women supporting women with the most popular female consumer product in the world - makeup. So much yes.
The Pot Rouge is a cult favourite for a reason. A multi-tasking creamy formula that gives cheeks a fresh flush of colour and soft stain on the lips. The shade is described as a medium, true pink and I. FREAKING. LOVE. IT. The colour is universally flattering and the formula? Creamy and not the slightest bit greasy. I'm partial to glossy skin and with Winter setting in, hydration is your girl's best friend. I used my trusty duo-fibre MAC #159 brush (the best applicator for cream blush, apart from warm fingers) to apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks then lightly tapped it onto my lips with my ring finger for the softest hint of colour. As you can see in the photo above, my face has a seriously healthy glow to it! The finish has the most beautiful sheen that looks so natural and fresh - such a perfect product for someone on the go. I got it exactly a week ago and I've worn it everyday since. I think it's true love.
I also received two other products from the BB fam - best-seller Vitamin Enriched Face Base and Crushed Lip Colour in Sunset.
The Vitamin Enriched Face Base is an oil-free moisturiser that hydrates with yummy Shea butter and nourishes with Vitamins B (hydration boosting), C (to brighten the skin and diminish the appearance of dark spots) and E (antioxidant protection against free-radicals). In this weather my skin needs extra hydration so I went in this order - face oil, Bobbi Vitamin Enriched Face Base, MAC Face&Body Foundation. My foundation gliiiiiiided on top after I applied the base and my skin felt (not just looked) amazing.
The Crushed Lip Colour was the final touch to my work outfit the other day. I was wearing black and white and needed some sass. The formula goes on to give off a satin-matte finish with super rich pigment. When you have a colour as bright as Sunset (fiery orange), you need full coverage pigment. That's what I got. Tap it on lightly and you get the most gorgeous soft stain but for me it's all about the richness.
Overall I'm happy to say I love my Bobbi products and I'm living for my Pretty Powerful Pot Rouge - like, living. And I know my skin is in super safe, soft, hydrated hands with my face base.
